Homemade Cold Brew Coffee in a Jar

There's nothing quite like the smooth, refreshing taste of cold brew coffee on a warm day. If you're tired of overpriced café versions, trying to reduce your coffee cup waste, or want to elevate your coffee game at home, you're in for a treat! Ready to pop in the fridge for 12-24 hours

This recipe I will be using a ratio of 1:10 (1L water/100g coffee). I have read that the best ratio to have coffee ready to drink out of the jar is between 1:8 – 1:15. I’m going to stay right in the middle which will create quite a full body coffee mouth feel and will be less acidic compared to your normal hot expresso.

You will need

  • 1L Glass Jar

  • 100g Coffee grounds (make sure your coffee grounds are medium coarse, similar to the texture of sand)

  • Cheese cloth or strainer

Step by step

1. Add 100g coffee grounds to your jar.

2. Fill your jar up with 1L of cold water and pop a lid on.

3. Place your jar in the fridge for 12-24 hours. I have found 16hrs is the perfect

brew time and will bring out all of the subtle notes of the coffee you are using i.e

chocolate, fruit, caramel, hazelnut etc.

4. Pull your jar out of the fridge and strain into a new jar.

You now have a cold brew you can enjoy black over ice or with equal parts milk of choice.
