Get to know us!
Meet our little (big!) family of three humans, one dog, four guinea pigs, thirteen chickens, and thousands of wriggly worms! At Little Tern Farm, our motto is simple: “Build a bigger table, not a higher fence.” We’re dedicated to creating a regenerative sanctuary that celebrates community, nurtures our son, and supports local wildlife—all while fostering a thriving ecosystem that showcases a greener future.
We believe in being community-sufficient rather than self-sufficient, and we embrace resilience in everything we do. Every day begins with the cheerful clucks of our chickens, and we dive into the earth, getting our hands (and feet!) dirty. We live simply, enjoy the freshest homegrown produce, share our surplus, compost our communities scraps, cultivate connections, and end each day under the glow of the moon and stars.
We are excited to learn and grow, and we’re so grateful to have you on this journey with us!
About our family
Hi, I’m Cas Tognarini
Farm creative director
In my personal life I am a mama (human, fur, chicken & plant mama), partner & permie (permaculture nerd).
I am absolutely in awe of Mother Nature & the miracle she is. I mean seriously, you pop the tiniest of seeds into the soil, water it & it will grow into abundance! I love creating & everything creative. I have designed down to every sqm of Little Tern Farm.
Hey, I’m Christiaan Urquhart
Farm operations manager
I like the simple things.. an appreciation for all things creative, reading widely, Nick Cave & brewing my own coffee. I am learning the art of sourdough & growing our own mushrooms.
I sit in our garden early each morning watching our chickens do their thing & marvel at all the diverse and amazing wildlife that pop in for a visit each day.
Hiiii I’m Q!
Farm apprentice & chief animal cuddler
I love nothing more then chatting to our chickens, cuddling our Guinea pigs or chasing our dog Lenny August…actually mama cuddles are my fave but playing in my sandpit or the pile of crusher dust is high on my list too.
I love helping on the farm, wheeling my mini wheelbarrow around with mum & dad & chatting to my friends over the fence while eating passionfruit & mulberries!
